Honoring The Green Man

The most unfortunate part of having this blog, is that we set it up for someone we will never sit with. Someone we will never share a meal with or laugh at a joke with.

With the anniversary of Peter's death looming on my calendar, I feel deeply that it's the life of a talented man that we should remember, not a date of a person's passing. So, while Thursday (the 14th)  is ingrained in our minds as the day we lost him, I offer up the notion that we should not cry for his loss. Yes, it's a great loss to my family's world, to his friends and his adoring fans. But I offer up a solution to the sadness.

Play his music REALLY loud ... sing his harrowing words at the TOP of your lungs ... SMILE when you see the GREEN grass ... and know that the "green man" is probably LAUGHING at you.

It's gonna be a hard week ... but I know we'll make it through with the help of our friends and the many people who were touched by Pete's music ...

If you are on Facebook this week, check out Cathy Ratajczyk's page for family photo postings and fan musings as we honor his legacy. I'll be monitoring the page for a portion of the day. Come on by and say hi.

Thank you for the honor of letting me and so many others into your hearts and for the memories of him that you are willing to share and taking the time out of your lives to do so. Thank you again so very much.......Sincerely Windy. :)

  5. This I can certainly appreciate because it comes from his family, which by default became mine through him. I'm grateful we had him for a little while, and it's been an experience listening to your stories. Thank you for setting this blog up. It's like pulling out the photo albums after family supper.

    Love you Ratajczyks.

  7. Blog is really beautiful...I appreaciate it a lot! It's so sentimental and sad, yet at the same time so cheerful to read. After all those things that I red about him, I have an imagination on my mind where Peter is like a Matryoshka doll having many layers nested in each other, revealing another marvel in each time..."Honouring the Gren Man" was as nicely and beautifully written as it could be and it made me both sad and happy at the same time. I'll definitely look for some greens and play his wonderful music loud and smile tomorrow! But I cannot guarantee that I will not cry, too! Long live Green Man...You're in the deepest of our hearts forever... Thank you for this blog! :)

  8. Black No 1 was the song that got me hooked on Type O after listening to some of their other songs like "unsuccsessfully coping,Love you to Death,Anesthesia....." Peter was the greatest songwriter he poured his heart and soul into his lyrics... you can tell what was going on in his life by his songs. When you listen to his music you can relate to him because I have gone through alot in my life his music helps. My biggest regret is knowing that I will never get to see him live or in person....But knowing that he is still LIVING through his music is the greatest thing RIP Green Man You Will Be Forever Missed (-)

  9. I fell in love with Type O & Pete the very first time I heard "Love You To Death" when I was 15.
I'm 32 now and have remained an avid fan. The lyrics are all so raw and powerful, and his voice had the honest to god power to soothe and to excite.

Thanks so much for sharing with us. His music is still played at least once a day in my house (And my KIDS tell me to turn it down!). As long as we still feel the music he'll always be with us.

Raising my glass to the Green Man, who put into song the sound of my soul. <3 <3 <3

Peter is my hero, his music touches my soul in many ways. I will forever be sad that he had to go and will always hope he knows how much he was loved and revered; how many lives he touched!
