A Special Saturday Devotion To Peter Steele
Courtesy of Jenifer Bracy
Jenifer was nice enough to share that she photo shopped a favorite photo of Peter with a poem she wrote. While Jen (who comments on the blog as Ink for Blood) never met Peter, she has been a fan of TON for 14 years and Pete's music has been a huge part of her life.
Jenifer was also kind enough to suggest this clear video of Pete singing Black #1 in 1995:
Great video!!! This beings back so many awesome memories of all the TON shows I've been to; so many that I've lost count by now. While Peter's loss stings all of us, I hold those memories near and dear to my heart and am truly grateful for them all. Thank you, Peter and TON for soooooo much more than just the music. And thank you Ratajczyk family for this wonderful blog that gives me new insight into one of my heroes every day. RIP Peter.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful picture of Peter STeele. He never took a bad picture. Thank you for the beautiful poem Jenifer. Touching beyond words. So many of the fans are still feeling the effects of Peter's death. We all want the family to know how much he was loved by expressing our grief and support. Thank you all again for letting us do this. IT's part of healing. I printed this beautiful picture and will frame it later today to add to my Peter Steele memorial wall at home. I'm still making a tribute to him and will post it soon. Stay strong we understand. Keep those beautiful thoughts for Peter alive as he will never be gone to us. His spirit will live on and on in all of us. Peace.
ReplyDeletehis voice of thunder, soothes like gentle rains
ReplyDelete...beautiful and so true, at least for me
thanks to Jen and the Ratajczyk family
I somethimes wonder when I read these stories in this blog; Peter was a member of a big and happy family - and still I can't loose the feeling it wasn't enough for him to love himself and believe in an good life in this crazy world.

Loved the poem. Short, sweet and true!
ReplyDeletethat man was so sexy,so talented, so beautiful The youtube of Black No. 1 1995. Can anyone beat that bass? No! That song is one of my favorites. September Sun and in my opinion Dead Again was the crem de la crem. I'll play it again soon when I buy another CD..wore the last one out. fans, let's all just give one loud scream for Peter Steele ---OH God We miss you, we really miss you!!---Geez I get so emotional about this. Taking a deep breathe. That's how this effects me. I'm angry, I want him back. I have to face reality I know. Gonna go hit something and be back another time.
ReplyDeleteI work for a hypnotherapist office and was able to work thru this anger over the loss of this magnificent man, Peter Steele, just now. Loss is never easy to take. Some days you're ok, others you're not ok. Work thru it as long as you do not hurt anyone or yourself. Putting on a Type O Negative CD and playing it really really loud helps me. Screaming right along with them on songs like Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of INfidelity. ONe of my favorite songs. I hear that scream and turn up the volume so I feel that man's voice to my core. That's how we are effected by Peter and TON. The fans, we got them, we needed them. It's a kind of religion even though I'm Catholic. This is therapy, this music is therapy. So Now I'm calmer and I'm in acceptance. I miss Peter Steele more than words can express. LIfe goes on, we all have to move on. Only with me I will be keeping Peter in my heart and soul daily for the rest of my days. Thank you for your inspiration you were and still are a beautiful soul. THank you again family for sharing your stories....Peace
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem and photo Jenifer. Immortal he remains. I am so glad other people feel the same way as I do about Peter. As Rose said, he never took a bad photo. One of my favorite youtube clips is also a Black No 1 from 1995 at the Dynamo Fest...might be the same one your talking about.
ReplyDeleteImmortal he shall remain indeed. I do believe Type O Negative will stand the test of time, true artistery is never appreciated in its time(excluding us of course) it's only when it's looked backed on that it is recognized and celebrated. This is where Peter Steele will stand tall and brilliant! Beautifully written poem, thanks Jenifer! (-)
ReplyDelete@Rose R. You hit the nail right on the head about TON being therapy. I know that's the reason I've connected so strong with their music. Whenever I am having woman troubles, Type O Negative is what's coming out of my speakers and let's just say I listen to them a lot! (-)
ReplyDeleteWow Jenifer, simply put - beautiful, beautiful, and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem Jenifer and the picture was beautifully done. Thank you sharing :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, makes me sad too, but also makes me happy that so many people still remember him, and always will.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful poem, Jenifer & the picture is so beautiful - thank you also for the video - it's great. Yes - immortal he remains & I am so grateful for this blog to share these feelings with the lovely Ratajczyk family and other fans - something really special.
ReplyDelete@RoseR - this is so true - TON is like religion - it feels so good to feel this incredible music and unique voice and it helps so much to scream and sing along - music definately has functions as Peter said once - absolutely it has & to me something really essential.
Much respect & love to all
