ANOTHER THANK YOU TO THE TALENTED
SCRATCH N SNIFF
SORRY, BUT THIS IS TOO BEAUTIFUL TO NOT SHARE
(TY A)
Aptly Titled "Blood & Fire"
I always thought we'd be together
And that our love could not be better
Well, with no warning you were gone
I still don't know what went wrong
You don't know what I've been through
Just want to put my love in you
No more nights of blood and fire
All those special memories
Now I bleed for you, burn for me
Perhaps I was just dreaming
When I think these things had real meaning
You don't know what I've been through
Just want to put my love in you
Love eternal
Lust infernal
Bleeding, burning
Needing, yearning

Oh, and for our global friends (or those that never drank), here is a video that sort of explains what "quarters" is. Though, imagine that the shot glass has tequila or vodka in it. Your friends sit around the table. The person who gets the quarter into the glass picks the friend who has to shoot the drink with the quarter in it and the drinker has to catch the quarter between his/her teeth. The drinker shows the quarter to the group and then that person tries to get the quarter into the glass. Yes, sounds stupid, but this is what we used to do in the 80s. Think: beer pong with shot glasses.

That game sounds hard. I would image that as people got drunk it would be really hard to get the coin in the glass. Holy crap....that person on youtube is unbelievable, I wil have to try it.
ReplyDelete2 great pictures.. as usual the art is always good! Love the colours in the second one. Good video of Blood and Fire. Peter is always beautiful but he was extra beautiful in 1995! Once again I say..Which girl was this song about?I hate reading Peters lyrics. It makes me sad to read how he felt. Love Eternal Peter xx
Love a game of quarters! Def. brings back memories for sure! I'm really enjoying Saturdays seeing everyone's awesome art work. Thank you and peace.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful post..I love the art/pictures!! Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteGreat art!!! xx
ReplyDeleteOH I HAVE PLAYED QUARTERS BUT INSTEAD OF USING BEER I USED HAWAIIAN SCHNAPPS. YA KNOW, I DID PRETTY GOOD BUT I DIDNT WIN. I DRANK A WHOLE BOTTLE (THE TALL ONES) AND DIDNT FEEL IT UNTIL I STOOD UP. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH. I FEEL STRAIGHT OVER!! JUST UP AND WHOOPSY!! RIGHT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. ITS A FUN GAME FOR DRINKERS. IF YOU DONT DRINK, PLEASE NEVER COMMIT TO PLAYING THIS GAME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THE BLOOD AND FIRE PIC HERE. FAAAAAAAAABULOSOOO!!
HAVE A SUPER GREAT WEEKEND MISS DARCIE.
just want to say that i'm really missing peter today . .its a beautiful fall day; just went for a long walk in the forest; the smells and changing colors reminded me so much of the green man!
ReplyDeleteQuarters, beer-pong, Brandy-sipping chess (1 per pawn, 2 per rook/knight/bishop, 3 for the queen), drinking poker (low Chicago receding queen), Quaalude Volleyball, playing 'guess which one's the real girl' with drag-queens, magic mushrooms in the forest, high on pot & taking turns drawing the next cartoon frame... escape tactics, and it's only human. So thankful to know Pete eventually became 'addicted to life'.
ReplyDeleteReading Pete's lyrics helps me to feel not-so-alone, so thanks for posting them, Darcie. Blaming former love interests for abandoning ship is useless, but the sense of loss has still been there and it intensifies the search for meaning. Gayle, you're right, Pete was beautiful in 1995, and '96, and '97... and he did age and look different but was still uniquely beautiful in his last years, Paul Bunyon-like or not. After having watched how men age I give credit where it's due. Pete looked absolutely amazing over time, stunning compared to his contemporaries during every year of his adult life.
Pete's fine appearance, high IQ, completely odd, creative personality and penchant for beautiful women likely put him in the position of experiencing loss after loss, after loss. Can't imagine how many times the love he hoped for faded away after another disagreement or confession, or he heard the words, "I just can't do this anymore," even when he'd tried very hard. He knew loss, abandonment, and the extra-harsh sense of failure one feels as a member of loving, close family with parents who'd stayed together. The rest of the FTLOPS readers/bloggers are welcome to disagree, but when I see the passion behind Pete's writing on this subject I relate to his lyrics and remain grateful to feel less alone.
Sometimes life hands one a wild-card. Sometimes one IS the wild-card.
Actually for some people they get better when they get drunk. I am pretty good at quarters but beer ponk.....I never play with my older brother because the more he drinks the better his aim is. He always wins. lol
ReplyDeleteBlood and Fire...boy do I know that one. Thanks Pete.

Thank you for posting these two exceptional artworks – I love both oft hem. Thank you LuciferV & SratchNSniff for these great contributions. Love the colors & the title of your artwork, SractchNSniff – blood & fire is the perfect itle for this beautiful artwork. The song is breathtaking – these lyrics are so passionate. With no warnings you were gone – that’s the most cruel thing – left with so many questions and no answers . Thank you Darcie for sharing the pics & lyrics.
ReplyDelete@dunebuggy4: Again I agree with u that for exceptional people it’s even more hard to cope with relations + the fact that u grow up in a quite functional family (meaning parents stay together) doesn’t make it easier . At least this my experience - not that I think I am exceptional but growing up in a quite stable environment in these terms - I‘m so addicted to having harmony in relationships that it sometimes got unhealthy for myself & very often one is just the perfect victim for people that like to take advantage of others. Guess theses ingredients – passion, love & lust, loss, pain (among others) – turns me on so much to the music of TON - all these feelings melted in most beautiful lyrics and embedded in exceptional music structures – pretty rare. Love the ending of your entry: Sometimes life hands one wild-card, sometimes one IS the wild-card.
@Darcie: Thx fort he explanation on ‚Quarters‘ & the video – seems like fun if u are conditioned but if u are not – oh dear can imagine well how this is gonna knock you out:) Just realized two weeks ago that it’s not good to play games like these anymore in a certain age = ‚Jack Daniels & Pizza‘ feeling guarenteed on the next day(s) :) so I prefer to have a glass of fine wine ‚In Praise of Bacchus‘.
Much love & respect

Woweee... Again, many thanks Darcie! Like I said before I sent it to you, I had no idea what the brightness and colours are like on this computer, had to wild guess it and hope that it turned out ok.
ReplyDeleteSo thanks for liking and posting it, and everyone else for your wonderful feedback... It's very much appreciated as it really helps to build my self-confidence with my stuff being seen "public", and not just my friends on fb XD
The lyrics to Blood and Fire make me sad for Peter, but as a whole it's such a seductive and rich tapestry of a song.
LV, amazing work - great choice of colours and themes to go with one of Peter's best live shots. Plus I'm a spiral/swirl-freak, so i love that you used them too.
As for the quarters game, I'd never heard of it before, so I need to start drinking again to have a go, ha... mmmmm, tequila :P
Off-topic, but there's a bloody humongous spider giving me the evil-eye as it's inching it's way down the curtain towards me... gotta go catch and evict him, eek
Hope you're all doing great,
Love and Respect, as always <3
