Don't Worry, An Incubis Is A Nice Demon
I don't know whether I pointed this out, but even though Peter was my uncle, he was only 6 years older than me, 10 years older than my sister, Marie. So, it made sense that he was asked to do "Uncle" duty and babysit for us every once in a while.
Of course, I don't have to tell you, we were allowed to do whatever we wanted - blast the music, stay up later than usual, eat pizza at midnight, and all the things young girls like to get a chance to do when their mother isn't around. Heck we spent at least an hour learning how to capture our farts in our hands so we can learn to "blow it " at people (a true talent invented and taught by our uncle).
One time, Pete came over to mind us when I was about 10 and my sister was about 6 (making him about 16 yo). He made popcorn on the top of the stove, poured a ridiculous amount of butter on it, gave us each a big glass of soda, and put on a scary movie called INCUBUS.
Now, we are watching this movie, which I later learned was about a male demon that has sex with a woman. And, the film gets to the part where the demon is for lack of a better term, raping the woman while she is in bed. So, Peter starts looking a little nervous. He asks us if we are tired. He attempts to turn off the tv, trying to avoid this uncomfortable scene in the film.
And I ask him, "What is wrong with the woman in the movie? Why does she jump around like that in the bed?"
And, he turns bright red and says to me, "The incubus thinks the woman is so pretty he wants to hug her."
So, of course, that doesn't do it for me. So I ask him, "But I thought demons are bad and do bad things to people. Why does the incubus want to hug her."
So he jumps up and turns off the tv and says to me, "This incubus started out to be mean, but then he turned into a nice demon." Then he goes over to the bookshelf and says, "come on, let's play with the Ouija Board instead and conjure up spirits."
Years later when I was old enough to understand how inappropriate the movie was for us to watch, I used to nudge him about the "incubus being a nice demon." Because Peter was modest and embarrassed, he couldn't bring himself to be the one to have to explain the deviant behavior of a demon to his two young cousins.
I have never liked horror movies, but often looked to with friends. They scared me, to death .--- LOL. But now, after reading the blog, I would love to see Incubus, and a "nice" demon!
ReplyDeletelmao this is my favorite story yet! catching farts, watching horror vids about "stuff" like that lol, popcorn with so much butter that you can hear arteries swell, soda! hell yeah lol i wouldnt have known what to do either,i would have been speechless to explain the actions to lil girls. thank you!

Fantastic as always. He always had an answer seems like. May have not been entirely accurate but hey! My parents used to say they were being with each other. It took me years to figure out what that meant.
ReplyDeleteThis one I LOVE!!! How much fun he was!!!! Teaching little girls gross stuff!!! And having four older brothers of my own, I KNOW how much fun this is!!! LOL!!! I would have loved to see the look on his face as he was trying to explain the sex scenes to you!!! Will have to try to find this movie now!!
ReplyDeleteOnly one of the many horrors of babysitting! Poor Pete, and all he wanted was a nice relaxing evening, watching a movie... eeeeeyikes!
ReplyDeleteAWEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! How funny! That's such a cute story. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletethats was pretty funny!! i love reading your storys about peter and the times you all had! love this!
ReplyDeletewhat a funny story ! thanks so much for sharing
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this story,he is so loved and so missed...:(
ReplyDeleteis a funny story, really very tender, Peter embarrassed to try to turn off the TV, and tries to turn the story on the nice demon , very, very nice :)Thank you for this story.
ReplyDeleteThats a cool story! I love horror movies, when my sister and i were younger we would watch them all the time. The only movie that ever really scared me was the exorcist and i just about mess myself..lol Even though my sister is thirteen years older than i am we loved doing things together like watching scary movies. thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that story absolutely cracked me up, especially because something similar happened to me and my uncle, pertaining some reading material he carelessly felt lying around among the books and magazines he was lending me. Poor Peter, what a fix to finding himself in but he handled it far better than my own uncle. And the alternative he so smoothly segued into was pure Pete genius "come on, let's play with the Ouija Board instead and conjure up spirits". At least spirits that dont go hugging ladies around with such gusto. ROFLMAO. thanks so much for sharing. this story made me miss being a little kid around my (curiously, also giant-sized) uncle.
ReplyDeleteHello Darcie
ReplyDeleteIf your wondering why I am commenting on this blog at such a late date, its because I have been having trouble leaving comments and I am testing my computer. Yes this is a funny story. From what Peter has said he was a virgin until he was 19. I personally dont know if this is true or not, but if he was it would have added to Peters embarressment and not knowing what to say. Very Funny.
Yes, this is w-e-l-l overdue, but i just found your blog last week so I'm still catching up. :) This is my favorite post also. My dad used to catch his farts also then he'd throw them at our faces. So then, of course my sisters and I would try it on each other. It's gross, but perhaps being "fart catching/throwing lil girls" made us better women. LOL!!! And imagining Peter teaching that to you young girls at that age is too much to bare. I'm envisioning him hiking up one of his long legs to catch some wind and cracking up!!! Thanks for sharing! I'll be smiling the rest of the week. ~Holly
